Life in New Zealand

  • Capital: Wellington
  • Currency: New Zealand Dollar (NZD)

New Zealand is a multi-cultural nation geographically situated a few thousand kilometres south-east of Australia. The North Island has the vibrant cosmopolitan city of Auckland as its main city, with the equally impressive South Island's largest city being Christchurch. New Zealand has a rich history surrounding its native Maori culture, and the Maori language is widely spoken.

The health and educational systems combined with a robust outdoor lifestyle of this small nation, make it an attractive location to spend time. New Zealanders are a proud people, who regularly overachieve in their chosen path, whether it be the arts, science, employment or sports they so passionately embrace.

If rugby is your thing, you'll fit right in with the fanatical fans here. Given their relatively modest population the Kiwis are feared competitors in the sporting arena!

Why New Zealand?

  • Healthcare system:
The health system in NZ is similar to other Western nations, with NZ doctors' qualifications and training being comparable to Australia, UK, South Africa, Canada or the US. New Zealand Specialists are held in high regard around the world, and this is reflected in the level of care provided in their health system, from primary care to high end specialist consultations. With a Healthcare budget of $20.5 billion in 20/21, New Zealand residents are well cared for.
  • Education system:
The New Zealand education system is highly regarded, with free schooling available in the public schooling network, or many outstanding private institutions offering broad educational options, from Kindergarten through to Year 12 on the one campus. Tertiary education institutions are some of the highest ranked in the world, with many international students choosing NZ to further their studies.
  • Cost of living:
New Zealand is extremely affordable by most standards, with housing, groceries and vehicles being considerably less expensive than most developed nations. With an enviable unemployment rate of 4.7%, New Zealand's economy is robust and resilient.
  • Lifestyle:
In terms of lifestyle, NZ is rarely equaled. Being a nation surrounded by the ocean, and inundated with high peaks, outdoor sports including water sports and snow related activities are a go-to for enthusiasts, in this beautiful country. Surfing, sailing, fishing, tramping and everything in between are popular past times. With ocean temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius, it is also not hard to understand the Kiwi's attraction to the Pacific Ocean.
  • Climate:
The climate in New Zealand is mild to cool depending on which island you choose to visit. The South Island enjoys the cooler climes and therefore has a significant European population, who often gravitate to the Southern region. If a warmer climate is desired, perhaps the North Island - with warm sunny days - is more attractive.
