Position description

The main focus of the role is coronary intervention including the interventional treatment of stable coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes and their complications. About our team: The District Health Board (DHB) Cardiology provides secondary and tertiary care for patients with cardiac health problems. Patients treated by the department on a secondary level are domiciled in the Region.Tertiary referrals are accepted from the Hutt Valley, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Whanganui, Hawkes Bay and Nelson-Marlborough districts covering a total population of about 1.1 million people.The Cardiology Department includes a Cardiac Care Unit and Cardiology ward for the assessment and management acute cardiac conditions. Outpatient clinics and diagnostic services including, echocardiography, stress testing and ECGs are all located within the Clinical Measurement Unit. About you: The individual is required to undertake clinical responsibilities and to conduct themselves in all matters relating to their employment, in accordance with best practice and relevant ethical and professional standards and guidelines, as determined from time to time. The individual must be able to demonstrate a high degree of clinical skill, particularly in general cardiology but also a combination of sub-specialties suitable for the service. Priority subspecialty skills: ⦁Main focus of the role is on Coronary intervention including the interventional treatment of stable coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes and their complications. ⦁Experience in the treatment of structural heart disease is desirable for the role, including experience in obtaining and assessing associated cardiac imaging. General cardiology skills: Clinical general cardiology Independent assessment and interpretation of echocardiography Independent assessment and interpretation of cardiac CT desirable
