Specialist/Consultant - Emergency Medicine

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine, who will work as part of the Department of Emergency Medicine across Tasmania’s Northern Region. Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the Staff Specialist/Consultant provides specialist emergency medical care to patients attending the Department of Emergency Medicine. Emergency Departments have approximately 30,000 presentations annually and treat a broad range of patients. The Regional Hospital is the regional trauma centre with a 25% admission rate. The Community hospital is a sub-acute hospital with limited services and a 15% admission rate. It is staffed with both FACEM and FACRRM. The hospital ED is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine for 12 months advanced training in Emergency Medicine which is increasing to 24 months in 2022. The Emergency Department at our secondary site is accredited for emergency medicine certificate and diploma courses.
