Position description

The Health Service is one of Victoria's largest public health services. We are proud to provide healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne's population, across the entire life-span from newborn and children, to adults, the elderly, their families and carers. More than 18,000 employees work at over 40 care locations across south eastern Melbourne, including the Medical Centre, the Children's Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre, Cranbourne Centre, and an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities. About the Aged Persons Mental Health Service The Aged Persons Mental Health Service includes Acute Aged Psychiatry Inpatient Units and Community Mental Health Teams comprised of Aged Psychiatry Assessment Teams, a Residential Support Program (for mainstream nursing home residents) and an Intensive Community Treatment team. A PGNH In-reach Team is currently being established. The Service currently employs 9 Consultant Psychiatrists across its two key sectors and there is an active research and training program. There are opportunities for involvement in registrar teaching and examination preparation. There are excellent opportunities for participation in a wide variety of research opportunities commensurate with interest and experience. The Service has close links with the University Department of Psychiatry. Applications should include an updated Curriculum Vitae and names of three professional referees. Applicants must be a Fellow of RANZCP or equivalent and must be registerable in Victoria. About the Role: The Mental Health Program is one of the largest providers of clinical mental health services in Victoria. Successful candidates will work in a range of multidisciplinary team settings (inpatient, community & psychogeriatic)
